The last 330 I welded was great with Tri-mix gas, but it was thicker. I personally would tig if the opprotunity was there, no specialty gas would be an advantage. In such case it is likely on minor consequence but your stainless anchor tabs ARE going to rust and corrode (time and amount of corrosion depends on environmental conditions). When welding ss to carbon steel, the ROLLED ALLOYS WELDING RA330There are certain alloy weld fillers which just arent satisfactory for use with RA330 base metal. Specifically, do not use the AWS grades ER330 wire and E330-16 electrodes. Such Type 330 fillers generally crack and require a great deal of repair when used to join RA330. Stainless electrodes, including 308, 309 and 310, crack when used on RA330.
